Meditation

A great deal of research has been conducted to evaluate the health benefits of meditation.  These studies have been published in various medical journals and have moved out into the popular domain of news magazines like "Time" and "Newsweek."  The basic agreement is that a meditative practice aides in improving health, relieving stress, achieving clearer thinking and inspiring creativity.

There are many approaches to meditation.  Practitioners find the methods that work for them and then build their practice to support their life path.  Devi has studied meditation since 1985, learning from her mentors and guides the numerous methods she now shares.  Since 2002, she has been teaching meditation techniques.

Her primary focus begins with becoming aware of the physiology of relaxation.  Students are guided to look at and begin to feel their bodies in new, more aware ways.  Next, Devi brings in the importance of proper breathing techniques.  Participants find themselves feeling more refreshed and alive after just these two elements.

The real purpose of meditation is to wake up!  To become aware of ourselves and the world around us.  As training continues, Devi provides direction using guided imagery, contemplation, movement, art, rhythm and sound as well as moving to a surprising depth of inner stillness.

Meditation for Health and Creativity

Devi offers classes to groups of all sizes.  These can be set up as a single session to introduce key concepts and practices, or, a series of sessions to allow for attendees to increase their practice and develop a deeper connection to meditation.  Coming from the school of "Mindfulness" meditations, Devi offers many options that can be customized to serve your group's needs.  Topics include the physiology of meditation, breathing (pranayama), guided imagery, visioning, movement, art, and developing intuition.
